These were the first facilities for treatment of waste water from agricultural communities constructed in Chiba Prefecture. In particular, these are terminal treatment facilities designed for combined treatment of waste water from an agricultural community, and liquid waste (urine and waste cleaning water) from hog breeding within the area, the latter transported by tank trucks.

From April 1986, together with the connection of plumbing, hog breeders within the area began to transport for processing liquid waste which they had been storing in reservoirs on their grounds. At present, compost facilities, the object of a later stage of planning, are being designed, with the intention of composting excess sludge and solid waste from livestock breeding. As these facilities are intended for dephosphorization, coagulant separator equipment has been installed, but has not yet been used.

These facilities are under the immediate supervision of the Agricultural Administration Department of Sawara City; however, plans call for local authorities to be entrusted with day-to-day maintenance and control. Further, Sawara City has entrusted the Rural Environment Research Association with remote monitoring of the state of operation of the facilities via telephone circuits.

Survey conducted June 12, 1986; weather fair, temperature 25C, water temperature 20C; conducted by ? Association for Pollution Prevention of Chiba Prefecture.
