1. What is HLS?

We, Rural Environment Research Association (“RERA”), has developed the "Hybrid Lagoon System" (“HLS”), a low-cost and high-functional waste water treatment system. HLS can resolve any problem of nitrogen, such as nitrate nitrogen, in water. With HLS, city sewage, for example, can be recycled for all agricultural industries. HLS is based on lots of unique technical know-how supported by some patents.

Removing nitrate nitrogen contained in ordinal underground water with HLS makes such water into treasurable water resource for safe drinking water. Unique biological treatment technology of HLS can smoothly make it come true. HLS is an only way to establish a new type of low-cost and high-effective water circulation system in any cities.

We call our website “Website to transfer our HLS to overseas." We believe that problems of water environment have been more and more popularized for all of you.

Our website contains some proposals with following technological comments;

  1. Basic: "The definition of denitrification and the theory of automatic control of denitrification with microbes",

  2. Application: "The system for automatic control of denitrification with activated sludge", and

  3. Application: "Improving quality of polluted bottom mud with microbes".

The proposals below are for planning new waste water treatment with followings;

  1. "Irrigation plan" for city sewage with denitrificated water,

  2. "High waste water treatment plan" with an open-air pond without timbering and high-level technologies, and

  3. "Organic pollution removal plan" for water services.

The United Nations has announced "Earth Environmental Protection" as one of the common issues for all humankind. However, there are still many peoples living in some poor situations environmentally . We believe that we need quick, low-cost, energy saving and no chemical use treatment system. HLS enables to achieve it.

We have developed HLS with following characters;

  1. Simple structure with lower construction cost (HLS costs less than a half (1/2) of standard types of facilities with activated sludge treatment.),

  2. High-performance dentrification of sewage for recycling water for use (HLS achieves a quality of treated water under 5mg/l of T-N in year.),

  3. Lower volume of sludge discharged (HLS reduces a volume of sludge discharged through water treatment to less than half of any other ordinal technologies.),

  4. Energy saving (HLS consumes less than 0.3 kW/h of electro-energy per one cubic meter for high treatment of sewage.),

  5. Automatic control of denitrification with microbes (HLS can treat waste water stably even in easily changing situation of a quantity of sewage water, density and temperature.), and

  6. Improving quality of polluted bottom mud with microbes.
